Beautiful Morning for a Nature Hike in Chevy Chase, MD

This morning I met up with the B family.  At first big brother J was very leery of me and the whole situation (which is not uncommon of course! :))  But once the boys started leading the way for our nature hike he became my little helper picking out great locations and helping to get his little sister to smile.  It was a beautiful morning and I had so much fun with this family.  We saw a lot of deer, beautiful fallen leaves, a pond, bridges and more.  I hope you enjoy your sneak, B family, and many thanks to my photographer friend Danie Smallwood for the kind referral!

OUR Holiday Card: Mission Complete

I am breathing a big sigh of relief.  I've been so busy designing holiday cards for clients that it just dawned on me last week that I REALLY need to get cracking on ours.  So yesterday I scoped out the perfect spot in Bethesda, MD and today I got the kids' outfits, changed them in the department store bathroom (LOL!) and then we drove to the location for our mini-session!  I think I got a lot of great pics to choose from and am presenting the design here on my blog first.  I can't wait to see the finished product in print because the professional lab I order from is amazing.  Thanks to everyone who commented on my fb fan page and helped me to pick the cover image!  I am of course biased so I really needed the help!  :D

Fall is for Families!

Yesterday afternoon I got to meet up with a fun family on their gorgeous property in Darnestown, MD for some outdoor holiday photos.   The weather was perfect, the leaves were amazing and I think we definitely captured the last bit of fall before winter starts to set in.  I captured some great moments of this gorgeous family and had a wonderful time doing it!

Chicago Holiday Sessions and One Sweet Newborn! :)

I made it!  A purely business trip of 12 sessions in 3 1/2 days.  I had the amazing opportunity to see and photograph people whom I haven't seen since college or high school, former clients, as well as meet new clients.  There were weather challenges along with typical city challenges including traffic, crowds, some intoxicated women dancing at the park at 8am, a parking ticket (I knew finding a spot easily in Lincoln Park was too good to be true :))... but I got it all done and every session went amazingly well.  I could not ask for better clients and I had so much fun with all of them.  I have many favorites that I haven't even processed yet but am just going to share one from each of the sneak peeks here in order of session.  If you want to view the full sneaks, they are on my facebook fan page... please feel free to "Like" my page if you stop by (and if you like my work :))

Another beautiful day with another beautiful family!

This morning I was back at the Gardens to meet with an adorable family of five!  Little Mr J had been sick the night before but after a couple minutes in front of the camera you wouldn't have known it at all.  These siblings had so much fun together and it was non-stop laughter.   Mom and Dad had fun too and I snapped a few of just them.  As busy parents it's hard to steal a moment or two alone much less get a picture so I am glad I was able to!  I hope you enjoy your sneak peek, C Family...  it was wonderful to meet all of you!

Gorgeous Fall Morning!

This morning I met up with the G Family.  They won the "Tag Yourself to Win Giveaway" I hosted a couple of months ago to celebrate reaching 700 facebook fans.  Our session was originally scheduled for a couple of weeks ago and I was so disappointed to have to reschedule due to rain :(.  But wow we could not have asked for better weather today!  And now the leaves are starting to change colors which I LOVE.  Little Miss L was all smiles and loved the fountains, flowers and being with her mommy and daddy.  What a wonderful way to start my day!
I hope you all enjoy your sneak peak, it was so nice to meet you!

Mother/Daughter Power :)

Yesterday was one of the worst weather days I have seen since moving to DC.  NON-STOP rain all morning and afternoon which of course led to flooding.  With my luck lately, it just figured I had 2 shoots scheduled for the afternoon- one of which could not be rescheduled as it was a friend visiting the area from Iceland!  So we decided to do it no matter what.  Just as I left the house the rain stopped and the sun even peeked out!   The rain stopped only for the duration of our shoot.  Pretty amazing.  Also amazing was shooting these 2 moms and their daughters.  It really gives me hope and inspiration that Avery will still love me when she is a teenager :)  I will have my work cut out for me in the week ahead, there are so many great images to process!  Here are some of my favorite shots of the beautiful mothers and their daughters (and for the full sneak just visit my fb fan page :)).

Photo Fun Saturday

Saturday was a day filled with photo fun!  First up, Saturday morning I got to meet with an adorable family whose little girl just turned one.  I love this age... not a baby any longer but not quite a toddler.  You can really see little their little personalities begin to emerge.  Little Miss M was all smiles but you could definitely tell when she was over it!  She didn't really smash the cake at the end but more "explored" it.  So cute!

Then Saturday afternoon we had a family photo session exchange with Photography- By Danie.  Getting everyone ready was exhausting, and all 4 kids under 4 were not in very good moods but it was totally worth it, and of course we caught some great moments.  It was a good experience to be in the client's shoes as well.  It really can be hard work to get your picture taken!
